If you’ve ever designed a user interface using Figma, there’s good news for you: Figma just got a whole lot more powerful and feature-rich! In 2025, they’ve announced a bunch of new features that make life easier for designers—and even non-designers.
Yep, through their annual event, Config 2025, Figma made a big splash. They didn’t just update the usual design tools, but launched four brand-new products, all infused with AI. Impressive, right?
1. Figma Sites: Build a Website in One Design Flow
First up, there’s Figma Sites. This tool lets you design and host a website directly from Figma. You design the UI like usual, click a few buttons, and boom—your website is live. You can even add interactions without writing a single line of code, just by typing a description! For example: “Move this button to the right on hover” — done!
That’s not all. They’ve also announced a built-in CMS (Content Management System) set to launch later this year. So, web developers… watch out, AI is coming 😅
2. Figma Make: From Text to App
This one’s a game-changer: Figma Make. It helps you create entire apps just from a text prompt. For example, type “A note-taking app with dark mode and a search feature,” and Figma Make will generate the design and interactions for you. It’s powered by advanced AI from Anthropic.
3. Figma Buzz: Helping Marketing Teams
For those in content or marketing teams, there’s Figma Buzz. It’s an AI tool that helps you create promo materials like emails, posters, or social media posts. It comes with built-in templates that can be customized to match your brand—making marketing materials fast and consistent.
4. Figma Draw: Sketch Like an Illustrator
Last but not least, there’s Figma Draw, a new feature for creating vector illustrations directly within Figma. No need to open Adobe Illustrator anymore—you can sketch, create logos, or illustrations all in one place.
Some AI Controversy…
Despite all the exciting features, Figma did face some backlash. One of its AI features, “Make Designs,” had to be temporarily pulled because the designs it generated looked too similar to Apple’s Weather app. Figma’s CEO, Dylan Field, admitted it was a major learning moment regarding AI and design originality. But don’t worry—they’ve promised improvements.
Heading Toward IPO, Figma Means Business
After Adobe’s acquisition attempt fell through in late 2023, Figma decided to go it alone. In April, they officially filed for an IPO, meaning they’re preparing to become a publicly traded company and compete directly in the global market. This move reinforces that Figma is more than just a design tool.
